LA MARQUE, TX ? Elbe Bassett III "Bootsy", 59, received his reward of eternal rest on September 7, 2025. He will have a visitation Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9 AM followed by Homegoing celebration at 10 AM, at Jerusalem Baptist Church 2617 Rev. A. S. Johnson Blvd, Galveston, TX, Dr. Marc James, officiating. Floral memorials may be sent to the mortuary. www.ERJFM.com

Elbe ?Bootsy? Bassett III
A glance of Elbe "Bootsy" Bassett III life
A humble and faithful believer of God, Elbe Bassett, III was born in Galveston, Texas to Elbe Bassett, Sr. and Linda C. Bassett, on February 16, 1966, and transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Elbe was a 1984 graduate of Ball High School. Following high school, he worked numerous jobs throughout Galveston County. Bootsy went on to achieve his Associate Degree in "Business Management". Bootsy recently started his new job working at the "Discount Cruise Parking". Which he enjoyed very much the short time he was there. He spoke very highly of his co-workers and supervisors.
Baptized at a young age, Bootsy had a strong and deep devotion for the love of God. His faith was strong and he never questioned God he just went about doing God's busy as best he could. He would get up in the morning reading God's words and end his day reading and studying the word of God. Bootsy loved and cared so much for his family. He would call every family member in his phone on a given day just to say hello and to say to each one "Have a bless day".
Bootsy was also known for his infectious smile, playfulness and warm upbeat personality. His presence could brighten any room and if you were saddened, he would give you, his smile. If you were feeling troubled or struggling with a problem, he had words of encouragement. Bootsy will be deeply miss by all who knew and loved him and those that had the honor to cross his paths.
One of Bootsy favorite pastime was being an avid reader, he loved to go the library to read and order many books of his interest, history being his favorite. He would love to challenge you in a conversation on the topic of history because he knew his history.
Elbe, III is preceded in death by his parents Elbe Bassett, Jr., and Linda C. Bassett; one brother Bobby T. Bassett, one sister, Yolanda D. Alexander. Grandparents; Elbe, Sr. & Juanita Bassett, Damon & Elnora Johnson. Great-Grandparents; Alex & Alzena Bassett.
Uncles; Leon Bassett, Alex Bassett; Charles Lewis Johnson; West Johnson Aunts; Joyce Marie Johnson; and Hazel Delorse Johnson.
Elbe, III leaves to cherish his memories his devoted daughters De'janae Bassett, and Latoya Shinette, and his son; Robert Shinette. He is also survived by his loving sisters; Juanita Bassett Johnson, and Michelle Bassett Hollins; and a devoted bother-in-law; David Hollins, Sr. Special in his heart was his devoted longtime good friend and ex-wife Bessie Turner whom remain very close in his life and was always there for him. Elbe also leaves to cherish his memory is his good friend D.T. (Darrell Thomas). Whom he said felt like having another brother. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
