Linda J. (Ransburg) Bassett
Linda J Bassett, 74 died Friday May 27, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor in Garrett.
She was born July 3, 1936 in Salem Center to Reuel and Evelyn (Shufelt) Ransburg.
Linda has owned and operated Bassett Office Furniture and Supply in Auburn since 1973.
She was very active and loved traveling, her grandchildren, her kids, reading, Jeopardy and Home Extension. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ of Ashley/Hudson. She was active in the church belonging to its St. Johns Guild and Northeast Indiana Association for Women. She was a volunteer for DeKalb Hospice. She was a member and held various offices in Chatter Belles Home Extension Club, Indiana Extension Homemaker, ACWW and NVON. She was honored with awards as DeKalb County Homemaker of the Year, Purdue Friend of Extension and DeKalb Friend of Extension.
Linda married Virgil Bassett on November 11, 1956 in St. Johns United Church of Christ and he died May 21, 1993. She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter, Jeff (Kathy) Bassett of Auburn, David (Carrie) Bassett of Auburn and Patti (Scott) Warstler of Garrett; a brother, Van (Helen) Ransburg of Hudson; 6 grandchildren, Ashlee (Paul) Fiandaca, Luke Bassett, Jasper Bassett, Ethan Bassett, Michael Warstler, Matthew Warstler; 2 great grandchildren, Gaige and Sophia Fiandaca.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and twin daughters Nancy and Diane.
Services will be 11 AM Monday May 30, 2011 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo with Pastor John Kabes and Pastor Kim Nusbaum officiating. Burial will be in Mt Zion Cemetery, Golden Lake. Calling is Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to St Johns United Church of Christ or DeKalb County Extension Homemakers Scholarship Fund.
