Trentham Wedding
Mr. Leslie Taylor and Miss Joan Bassett
A wedding of great local interest took place at Trentham Parish Church, the bride being Miss Joan Bassett, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bassett, of Nottingham, and Mr. Leslie Taylro, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Taylor, of Briches Head, Hanley.
The bride?s father is the L.M.S. Goods Agent at Nottingham, and formerly at Stoke-on-Trent. The bridegroom?s father is cashier at Messrs. Johnson, Bros. (Hanley) Ltd.
The Rev. A.E. Grimes (Vicar of Trentham) performed the ceremony, and Dr. Percy M. Young was the organist. The service was choral and the hymns were, ?The Voice that breathed o?er Eden,? and ?O perfect Love.? The organist played the Bridal March from ?Lohengrin,? and Mendelssohn?s ?Wedding March.?
The bridesmaid was Miss N. Taylor (sister of the bridegroom). Mr. Eric Taylor was the best man and Mrs. S.R. Gater carried out the duties of groomsman.
The bride, who was given away by her father, had a charming dress of white lace over crepe-de-chine, and she wore a headdress of orange blossom and veil of white tulle. She carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and white carnations. The bridesmaid was attired in a dress of blue ninon and carried a bouquet of scabious and cornflowers. She wore a bangle, the gift of the bridegroom.
After the reception at the Trentham Hotel, at which 70 guests were present, the newly-married couple left for their honeymoon in North Devon. The travelling dress of the bride was in blue, with navy edge to edge coat and hat to match.
