Kenneth Edward Bass, 79-year-old Vinita resident, went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on March 14, 1938 to Georgia L. (Barrette) and Calvin W. Bass in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was raised in Muskogee and Piedmont, Alabama. Kenneth joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served as E-6, Commissaryman First Class, until he retired in Brunswick, Georgia in 1974. He was also a member of the Vinita Masonic Lodge #5 and the Order of the Eastern Star. He married his best friend Linda Bartley on February 23, 2008 at the Dupree Baptist Church in Vinita. Kenneth was a wonderful man who enjoyed fishing, woodworking, family and dearly loved God. He was a member of the Dupree Community Baptist Church. He never met a stranger, loved to visit with people and had a real zest for life. Preceding him in death were his parents, two daughters, Anita Marquis and Angie Delcour; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Lynze Kincade; three brothers, Fredrick, Donny and Gary Bass; two sisters, Nola Gail Garotte and Charlotte Cox. The family includes; his wife Linda of the home; two sons, Keith Bass and wife Donna of Bartlesville, Kevin Bass and wife Amy of Miami; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Yvonne Bowman of Piedmont, Alabama and Sue Moore of Muskogee. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita. The celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday January 31, 2018 in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita, with Pastors George Vaughn and Kevin Bass officiating. Interment and Military Rites will follow at the Big Cabin Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.burckhalterfuneralhomevinita.com.
