Romulus Bass
Romulus Bass Sr., 72, of the 2900 block of Queen City Road, a retired hatchboss, died Oct. 30, 1990, in a hospital.
Mr. Bass was a native of Camden, N.C. He was a member of the International Longshoreman's Association, Local 1248, Greater St. Andrew's A.M.E. Church and Masonic Lodge 192. He was an associate member of the Virginia Sheriff's Institute.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Carrington Bass; five daughters, Aline L. Bass, Georgia D. Bass and Spring L. Brooks, all of Virginia Beach, Jean N. Bass of Chesapeake and Reba A. Gilbert of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Romulus E. Bass Jr. of Norfolk and Cassell S. Bass of Chesapeake; a sister, Rosa Ellis of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Elijah Bass of Baltimore; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greater St. Andrew's A.M.E. Church by the Rev. William H. Grant Jr. and the Rev. George Gilbert. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
