Ellen Carter Bass
LOUISIANA ¬ Ellen Carter Bass, 94, of Louisiana, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Maple Grove Nurtsing Home in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Stephen Weissman will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bass was born July 23, 1906, in Eolia to Albert Cleveland and Sarah Pepper Carter Bass.
She was married to Elsworth Bass May 3, 1930, in Louisiana. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1986.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Kice of Aurora, Colo.; two granddaughters, Virginia Yinger of the state of California and Joanne Gerst of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, George Elliott of Metropolis, Ill., and Harry E. Elliott of Louisiana; three sisters, Virginia Troutner, Sarah Leverington and Betty Asquith, of all Louisiana; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William R. Elliott and Charles R. (Bob) Elliott.
Mrs. Bass had been employed by Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Louisiana for several years. She was later employed as a clerk for Stark Brothers Nursery in Louisiana until her retirement in 1971. She attended the Eolia school system.
Mrs. Bass had been a resident of Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana since 1992. She was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisiana.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Episcopal Church or St. John's Episcopal Church in care of Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.
