He was sixty-five years old and is survived by a wife and eight children. The funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Monday morning from the Methodist church at Thruston, by the Rev. W.H. Hickerson. The burial was in the Yellow Creek cemetery. Lexington Herald, May 25, 1910 Confederate Veteran Dead OWENSBORO, Ky. May 24 – Tom Bassett, a Confederate veteran, died of a complication of diseases after several months’ illness. He was sixty-five years old and leaves a wife and five children. He was a resident of the Yelvington neighborhood.
