Leona Bessett, 71
Leona Bessett, 71, an East Wenatchee area resident, passed away Sunday morning, June 8, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born on December 16, 1925, at Centerville, Missouri, to Dave and Minola (Ruble) Shaver. She was raised in Missouri and Illinois prior to entering the U.S. Womens Army Corps during World War II. She served as a medical technician at Madigan Army Hospital, Fort Lewis. She met Ralph E. Bessett in Tacoma and they were married there on May 23, 1947. They made their home in Tacoma until moving to Crescent Bar in 1982. They moved to East Wenatchee in 1991. She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Bessett, East Wenatchee; three children, Ralph David Bessett, Carlton, Barbara Lee Bessett, Vancouver, Washington, and Dana Scott Bessett, Chehalis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
