SWANTON - Edward Allen "Ed" Pilon, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Northwestern Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born in St. Albans on June 17, 1954. He was the son of the late Edward Joseph and Evelyn Ruth (Bessette) Pilon. Ed was 64 years old.
He married Debra Stevens, who survives him, on March 21, 2009, at their home in Swanton.
Ed was a 1972 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then began a long-distinguished career in the parts business. Over the years, he worked for Georgia Auto Parts, Bourbeau Equipment, Fineline Power Sports and Equipment and, at the time of his passing, he was employed at Champlain Valley Equipment for several years.
Ed was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding. He was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. Ed easily made friends and could start up a conversation with anyone he met. Ed's family came first and he was always there for them. Ed's favorite times were spent with his family and the many trips and excursions they enjoyed together.
Ed will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
In addition to his wife, Debra, he is survived by his sons: Trevor Pilon and his fiancée, Melissa Latimer; granddaughter Ella Pilon, of Williston; and Ian Pilon and his girlfriend, Jayla Ives, of Swanton.
He is also survived by his stepchildren: Gale Bessette and her significant other, CJ Amos, and her son, Conner; and Anthony Bessette and his sons, Bryson and Anthony. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Ed is survived by his sister, Rachel Pilon Carriveau, her husband, Frank, of Montpelier, and his niece, Becky Carriveau, of Woburn, Massachusetts.
In addition to his parents, Ed was also predeceased by his nephew, Frank Matthew Carriveau.
There will be no public calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake St., St. Albans. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Assisting the Pilon family is the Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans, where messages of condolence are welcome at www. healdfuneralhome.com.
