      George T. Bassett Dead
      Arrangements for Funeral Next Thursday Afternoon

      George T. Bassett, a clerk in the pension office, died last night at home, 627 Maryland avenue northeast. Although Mr. Bassett, who was the son of the late Capt. Isaac Bassett, for many years doorkeeper of the United States Senate, had been ill of late, death was unexpected.
      The deceased was born in this city and resided here all his life. His wife, formerly Miss Ellen Treadway of Pontiac, Mich., and two daughters, Mrs. William D. Runner of Mount Union, Pa., and Miss Lillian Bassett of this city, survive him.
      Mr. Bassett was a Mason, being affiliated with Hiram Lodge, No. 10, F.A.A.M.; Columbia Commandery, No.2, K.T. and the Mystic Shrine. He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Association of Oldest Inhabitants. During the civil war Mr. Bassett with a number of other young men of this city formed Company A, District Volunteers, and Col. Tower?s battalion, and during the ensuing years of the war was an officer in the commissary department.
      The funeral will be under Masonic auspices next Thursday afternoon. Rev. Dr. Albert Evans, pastor of the Metropolitan Presbyterian Church, 4th and B streets southeast, and Hiram Lodge will be in charge. Interment will be in Rock Creek cemetery.

      Pension Office Clerk Succumbs to Edema of Lungs Attack

      George T. Bassett, son of the late Capt. Isaac Bassett, who was for many years doorkeeper of the United States Senate, died at his home, 627 Maryland avenue northeast, last night, after a brief illness of edema of the lungs. While Mr. Bassett had been ailing for several days, his death was not expected.
      Mr. Bassett, who was a correspondence clerk in the Pension Office, is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Ellen Treadway, of Pontiac, Mich., and two daughters, both of whom live in this city. He was a member of Hiran Lodge, F.A.A.M., a Knight Templar, a member of the Mystic Shrine, of
      the Oldest Inhabitants Association, and the Grand Army of the Republic. The funeral arrangements have not been made.
