CHARLES A. BESSETTE, SR.
BURLINGTON -- Mr. Charles A. Bessette, Sr., age 64, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Fletcher Allen Health Care after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Fairfield, son of the late Arthur and Helen (Tourangeau) Bessette. He worked in construction for Pizzagalli and A.C. Hawthorne companies. He was also a musician, having his own band, Charlie And The Country Sounds, who appeared at many local night clubs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #758, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1090, and the Loyal Order of Eagles. His survivors include his children, June Root and her fiance James Gauvin of St. Albans, Phericia Sifford and her husband Perry of Virginia Beach, Va., Mary Pelissier and her companion Gary Carncross of Milton, Charles Bessette, Jr. and his wife Susan of St. Albans, his former wife Mary Jane Bessette of St. Albans, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Donald Bessette and his wife Phyllis of St. Albans, two sisters, Lucille Orvis of Starksboro, and Helen Orvis of Connecticut, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, Eugene and Wallace, and two sisters, Hilda Talcott and Harriet Campbell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the St. Patrick's Church in Fairfield. Interment will be in the Bessette family lot in St. Luke Cemetery in Fairfax. Friends may call in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Charles A. Bessette Memorial Fund, c/o the People's Trust Company, Kingman St., St. Albans. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
