"Born August 1st 1883 at 3 p.m. Joined the Royal Navy when 15 years old (lied about his age).
When 18 he developed polio in South America and was invalidated out. Went to America,
worked as a miner in Arizona, California and Nevada. Also in Mexico. Went to Canada at the
start of the Great War to work in shipyards. After the war he bought a small farm on
Lulu Island, Vancouver. He spent the rest of his life there. Had a full head
of dark hair, average height and build. Outdoor man with very bushy eyebrows,
large smiling mouth, full lips. Similar to Abraham Lincoln."
