Sherry Ann Bass
Sherry Ann (Haley) Bass, 7l, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Her journey through life, marked by love, compassion, and unwavering strength, began on June 11, 1954, in Springfield, Missouri, where she was born to Kenneth and Juanita Haley.
A 1972 graduate of Aurora High School, Sherry's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She earned her License of Practical Nursing from Burge School of Nursing in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, in 1973.
Her dedication to the field continued as she advanced her education, obtaining an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Nursing from Tulsa Junior College in 1993, followed by a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Organizational Management from Southern Nazarene University in 2000.
Sherry's nursing career was diverse and impactful. She began as a Nurse's Aide at Aurora Hospital during her high school years, progressing to serve as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sam Houston State University Clinic in Huntsville, Texas, and Dover Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she worked as an Industrial Nurse.
Sherry specialized in psychiatric nursing during her time at various hospitals in Tulsa, including Laureate, St. Francis, St. Johns, and Parkside, ultimately concluding her career at the esteemed Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Her compassionate nature and dedication to her patients left a lasting impression on all those she encountered.
On August 18, 1973, Sherry married the love of her life, John Bass, in a heartfelt ceremony at Jones Memorial Chapel in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming three children into their lives: Jennifer (Beau) Ellis, Robert (Suzi Rice) Bass, and William (Jackie Evans) Bass.
Sherry cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Lynette (DJ Woodcock) Rice, Jody Rice, Charlie Bass, and Pitku Bass and great-grandchild Victoria Woodcock.
Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing each of them, sharing in their joys and supporting them through hardships.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Haley, and her sister, Kenda Seitz.
She leaves behind her devoted mother, Juanita Haley; her loving husband, John Bass; her children and their spouses; her grandchildren; and her siblings, Chris (Bim) Taylor and Kendall Haley.
Sherry's kindness, beautiful smile, and willingness to help others were hallmarks of her character, and she had a big heart that encompassed all those who knew her.
Outside of her professional life, Sherry had a myriad of interests. She loved creating masterpieces with stained glass, immersing herself in crafting, embarking on road trips, and enjoying the serenity of fishing.
Most of all, she loved being a "Granny," a title that brought her immense joy.
The family wishes to express their eternal gratitude for the remarkable team of doctors and nurses at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, whose care and compassion made an incredible difference during Sherry's illness.
A memorial service to celebrate Sherry's life will be held on July 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Jones Memorial Chapel.
Family and friends are invited to come together to remember and honor a woman who lived her life with grace and love.
As we say goodbye to Sherry, we remember her not only for her accomplishments and the roles she held but for the warmth and kindness she spread so effortlessly.
She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
