Leonard H. Bassett
Leonard H. Bassett, a longtime Wilton resident and a former town custodian, died yesterday morning at his home at 130 Drum Hill Road. He was 69.
Mr. Bassett was born in Bridgeport on April 23, 1916, the son of the late Frederick and Florence Reynolds Bassett.
He resided in Wilton for 40 years and was custodian for the town for more than 15 years. He was a member of the Zion?s Hill United Methodist Church in Wilton.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Wilton.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Geddes Bassett; a son, Frederick H. Bassett of Bethel; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Zemaitis of Prospect; and four grandchildren.
Services will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall St. in Norwalk, with the Rev. Dr. Carl F.W. Kohn, pastor of Zion?s Hill United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton.
There will be no calling hours.
