Albert R. Bessette
1918-2003
GRANBY – U.S.A.F. Retired Senior M/SGT, Albert R. Bessette, 84, of 138 Amherst Street, Granby, died January 9, 2003, at home. He was born in Bridport, VT to the late Giard and Ida Mae (Trombley) Bessette. Albert graduated from the Middlebury High School, Middlebury, VT. He worked at Kaman Aircraft in Connecticut. After that, he had worked at Holyoke Lawn Mower. Albert served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years and held the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was Chief of the Granby Auxiliary Police and Past Master of the Vernon Lodge in Belchertown. Albert was also Past President of the Western Massachusetts Auxiliary Police Association. He is survived by his wife Loretta (Bousquet) Bessette; four daughters Donna Marie Zimmer of Voorhees, NJ, Anelle Elize Majeran of Chicopee, Eileen Robin Merritt of Jakarta, Indonesia, and Lira Naa Howe of Montague; two brothers Arnold G. Bessette of Belmont, NH, and Alverton T. Bessette of Decatur, GA; and twelve grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St, South Hadley. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
