      Mrs. Mary P. Bassett, 90, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Mercy House, Chambersburg, PA.

      She was born on March 15, 1935 in Johnstown, PA. She was the daughter of the late Margaret and Carl J. Gaus, Sr. She was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and a 1956 graduate of St. Francis General Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA . She was a six year veteran of the US Air Force Nurse Corps and a member of the Society of Retired Air Force Nurses. She retired from the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry. She was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Waynesboro, PA since 1996. She loved her God, her family, and her country.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sweet husband Buck, brothers, Monsignor Arnold, Carl, James, John, Bede, Edward and Robert Gaus.

      She is survived by her dear children, Marilyn Oberhardt (Fred) of Arlington, MA and Matthew Oberhardt (Tara) of Truckee, CA, step-daughters, Sarah Wilhelm of Swarthmore, PA, Jennifer Brown (Greg), of Rokville, MD and Joanna Snow (John) of La Plata, MD; two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, brother, Raymond Gaus (June) of Denver, CO, sister-in-laws, Barbara Gaus of Brecksville, OH and Mary Gaus of Watertown, NY and many priceless and ?Favorite? nieces and nephews.

      Friends may call at the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 P.M.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 13, 2025 in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro.

      Burial will be private in the U.S. National Military Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA.
