Melanie Bassett, Niles, Ohio
Melanie Bassett, 51 of Niles, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Niles, Melanie was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend whose warmth, generosity and love for others left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
As a child, she discovered her passion for singing at The Church of God, an art she carried with her through her school years as a member of the choir and the Belles and Beaux at her high school.
After college, Melanie worked for many years at Weathertite Windows, where she became actively involved in fundraising for the Rich Center for Autism, a cause close to her heart. She later brought her talents and work ethic to Durst Roofing and Siding.
Above all, Melanie?s greatest joy came from her family, she cherished her time with them and took great pride in being both an aunt and a special part of her nieces? and nephews? lives.
Melanie is survived by her loving parents, Richard and Cathy Bassett of Niles; her brothers, Richard (Trishia) Bassett, Jr., of Niles, Stephen Bassett (Jaclyn Sears) of McDonald and Michael (Cieleste) Bassett of Niles. She was a beloved aunt to, Richard Bassett, III, Franklin Bassett, Kathryn Bassett and a special aunt to, Preston, Landon, Bailey, Jesse and Alexis.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Frank and Carolyn Bassett, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Betty Shea Barnes, Timothy Shea and her uncle, Robert Bassett.
Melanie?s bright spirit, compassion and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 4:00 ? 6:00 p.m., at Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 614 Warren Road in Niles, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Melanie?s memory to The Rich Center for Autism.
