Bassett, 86, of 41 Liberty St., died Monday (Mar. 16, 1987) in Kelley’s Family Care Home at Wayland where she had resided for the past three weeks. She was born in Henrietta, a daughter of Milton and Nettie Taylor Vahue, and had resided in Dansville since 1924. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church, the Opportunity Circle of The King’s Daughters, Women’s Business and Professional Association, Hook and Ladder Ladies Auxiliary of the Dansville Fire Department, the Brae Burn Ladies Golf Association and the Women’s Bowling Association. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Elmer H. Bassett; a sister, Florence Distie of Sarasota, Fla.; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the Dansville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James P. Bender officiating. Burial will be in Mendon, with arrangements by the Hindle Funeral Home of Dansville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dansville Presbyterian Church.
