Doris Bass
Doris Bass, 89, of McComb, died April 18, 2006, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.
Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, and 9 a.m. Thursday until services there at 11 a.m.T he Rev. Vann Windom will officiate. Burial will be in Whittington Cemetery in Summit.
Mrs. Bass was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Summit to Bennie and Ruby Wilkinson Long.
She worked for Kellwood Co. for 21 years as a supervisor. She also worked for Denman Alford's. She and her husband owned and operated Boss Grocery for 10 years. She loved her church, her family and her flowers. She was an avid gardener. She grew up singing in church at Tangipahoa Baptist with her father and sister. She had a beautiful alto voice. Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.C. Bass; and one brother, B.F. Long.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Winton Bass of Denham Springs, La., and Wayne and Dobbie Bass of McComb; one sister, Juanita Sims of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, Johnny Bass and his wife Melessia of Magnolia, Debbie Smith and her husband Jay of Denham Springs, Julie Bass, and Kyle Bass and his wife Susan, all of McComb; and seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany Bass, Stephanie Smith, Lindsey and Briana Bass, and Joshua, Nathan and Ryan Robert; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Bass, Johnnie Bass, Jay Smith, Dale Sims, Brian Hamm and Scott Martin. Honorary pallbearer is Don Walker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice,140 N. Fifth St., McComb, MS 39648. Jeffery Brian Rose
Jeffery Brian Rose, 44, of Whitfield, died April 17, 2006,at Jacquith Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, with the Rev. Mike McKee officiating.
Mr. Rose was born Sept. 23, 1961, in Muskegon, Mich. He was the son of Wilfred Rose of Muskegon and Inez Koski of Summit.
He was a resident of Jacquith Nursing Home in Whitfield. He enjoyed fishing, field trips, church and singing in contests and for residents at various events there. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reino and Judy Koski and Charles Rose, all of Muskegon.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Brian Rose Jr. and DavidAllen Wilkinson, both of Jackson; his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Ray Wilkinson of Magnolia; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Tony and Annette Rose of Summit, Kirk Rose of Muskegon and Timothy Rose of Lafayette, Ind.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and three great-nieces.
