      Lelia H. Bass

      Lelia Hardison Bass, loving mother and grandmother, 60, of the 1600 block of Cypress Chapel Road, died April 14, 2000, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
      She was born in Norfolk County and was a longtime resident of Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late James Henry Hardison and Carlie Mae Harris. She was a homemaker and the widow of Waverly Gerald Bass.
      Survivors include her daughters, Carlie Ann Duckworth of Farmville, Va., Calsie Dona Tugwell of Portsmouth, Toni Lynn Bullock of Farmville and Lelia Audrey Harrell of Gatesville, N.C.; a son, Waverly Gerald Bass of Suffolk; her grandchildren, Penny Skittlethorp, Wendy Stillwell, Leslie Mallery, Sonya Bullock, Michelle Harrell, Carl Duckworth and William Harrell Jr.; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Darlene Bordeaux of Portsmouth, Janie O'Quinn of Chesapeake and Shirley King of Miami, Fla.; and her brothers, Clyde Hardison of Suffolk, Buddy Hardison of Portsmouth and Henry Hardison of Simi Valley, Calif.
      A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Spaugh. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and other times at 1636 Cypress Chapel Road in Suffolk.
