Miss Lida L. Pierce Wed in Elmira
Miss Lida Lee Pierce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Pierce, Elmira, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bassette, 272 Thompson boulevard, was married to C. Wayne Small, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin G. Small, Nellysford, Virginia, November 21 in Grace Episcopal church, Elmira, with Reverend Samuel Hale, rector, officiating.
Miss Jeanne P. Pierce, Wellesley, Massachusetts, was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Willa C. Pierce, Elmira, sister of the bride, Miss Georgie H. Hampshire, Townson, Maryland, Miss Evelyn B. Graham, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and Miss Catherine R. Treys, Brooklyn. David J. Dodd, Roseland, Virginia, was best man. Ushers were James. A. Wood, Wingina, Virginia, C. Joseph Pierce, 2nd, Elmira, brother of the bride, Alton R. Seaman, Roseland, Virginia, and Charles M. Rucker, 3rd, Arlington, Virginia.
A reception was held at Pierce's "1894", Elmira Heights. After a Caribbean cruise on the S.S. Independence, the couple will live at 202 Walnut street, Elmira.
Mrs. Small, a June graduate of Sweet Briar college, Virginia, is a member of the Junior League of Elmira. Mr. Small attended the University of Virginia and served in the Virginia national guard. Both Mr. and Mrs. Small are associated with Mrs. Small's father in the restaurant business of Pierce's "1894".
The wedding was attended by the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bassette. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. David S. Summerville, Mr. and Mrs. Mervil G. Bassett, Adams Center, Mr. and Mrs. Orin R. Summerville, Sackets Harbor, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. James G. Campbell.
