Smith
After an illness of two weeks, Mrs. Emily J. Smith, widow of William B. Smith, died at the family residence, 435 West Berry street, Sunday morning at 4 o?clock, aged 79 years. Mrs. Smith was born in Salem, Ky., March 5, 1921, and came to Fort Wayne in 1865. She was a woman of beautiful Christian character and had many warm friends both in the First Presbyterian church, of which she was one of the oldest members, and in the city and county, where she was one of the oldest members, and in the city and count, where she has a wide acquaintance. Mrs. Smith will be mourned and her loss deeply felt as a devoted mother, a kind and sympathetic neighbor and a true friend.
The nearest surviving relatives are one brother, John H. Bass, and five children, Dr. J. Sion Smith, Mrs. William McLachlan, Mrs. J. Harry Orr, Mrs. Jesse H. young and Miss Irene Smith, all of this city. There are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 2 o?clock form the family residence, 435 West Berry street, Rev. Dr. D.W. Moffat and Rev. H.B. Master officiating. The interment at Lindenwood will be private.
