Donald had a daughter, Cheryl Marie Miller, born sometime before 4 Dec 1948, to Miss Mary Jane Hooper who lived in Muscatine, Iowa, at the time.
Donald served in World War II and in Korea.

Donald W. Bassett died on November 30, 2003 at the age of 80 years, 5 months, 10 days. Don was born June 20, 1923 in Hill City, KS to the late David & Grace Bassett. Don is the next to the youngest of twelve children. He was employed by the State Highway Department before volunteering for the service. He served as a sergeant in the European Theater in WWII in the Third Army, 528th Engineering Company, from 1943 to 1945. He later served his country again in Korea from 1950 to 1951 with the Company B, 430th Engineers. Upon his return from Korea he worked for the City of Salina County Engineering Department. In 1952 he began working for the City of Salina as Assistant City Engineer and Traffic Engineer until his retirement in 1987. Don also had a private surveying business for over 50 years.
Don and Arlene Rollins were married August 22, 1948 at Lebanon, KS. They have attended the Salina Bible Church for 54 years. Don enjoyed raising his two sons (most of the time) and woodworking for many years. During his retirement he enjoyed helping with his grandchildrden and
gardening.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and seven
brothers.
Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene; his two sons: Bradley and his wife Nancy of Salina and Marcus and his wife Kathy of Topeka; five grandchildren; Dylan, Hannah, Matthew, Simeon and Gabriel Bassett; his brother: Lynn of Hill City; his sister-in-law; Audrey Bassett of Alona, OR and many nieces and nephews.
His life and accomplishments will live on in each of them.
