Lillie Mayhew
STATESVILLE Lillie Bass Mayhew, 92, of Statesville, entered Heaven's gates Friday, March 31, 2017, at Brookdale Peachtree in Statesville. She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Iredell County, to the late Worth Franklin Bass and Irene Lipe Bass. Mrs. Mayhew was retired from the Troutman Shirt Mill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Taylor Mayhew; sisters, Betty Overcash, Elenora "Sis" Mayhew, Verna Mae Smith, Viola Funderburk and Juell Carrigan; and brothers, Cletus Bass, J.A. Bass, Lewis Bass and Ross Nesbit. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Emma Piguerra, Jettie Stafford, Nancy Mayhew; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
