Martanella Bessette
Martanella "Martha" Bessette, 72, of Houghton Avenue, an employee of the bobbin department of the Rhode Island Lace Works for 20 years, retiring in 1952, died yesterday at home. She was the wife Alphonse J. Bessette.
Born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Julia (Gerard) Russell, she had lived in Barrington all her life.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, Arthur J. Bessette of Walpole, Mass.; two sisters, Vivian V. Sarracino and Phyllis J. Russell, both of Barrington; a brother, James A. Russell of Barrington; and four grandchilden.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. frm the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside, with a funeral service at 10 in the United Methodist church, Washington Road. Cremation will follow.
