Eleanor Louise Bass Mayhew
SALISBURY - Eleanor Louise Bass Mayhew, 89, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born April 21, 1922, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Irene Lipe Bass and Worth F. Bass.
A graduate of Troutman High School, she retired from Carolina Maid.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Franklin Cleo Mayhew, who died Aug. 2, 2004; daughter Rose Christine Mayhew in 1944; siblings Verna Mae Smith, Viola Funderburke, Lewis Bass, Cletus Bass, Betty Overcash, Ross Nesbit and Jay Allen Bass.
Survivors include sons Gary Allen Mayhew (Katie), Donald Wayne "Bud" Mayhew (Sandra), all of Salisbury; sisters Juell Carrigan (Bud), Lillie B. Mayhew, all of Troutman; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are special friends and caregivers Belle Elkins and Ruth Alexander.
Visitation and Service: Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 8 at Southside Baptist Church, 500 Morlan Park Road, Salisbury. The service will begin at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Tom Smith and the Rev. Ricky Brown officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Lutheran Cemetery, Highway 115, Troutman. The family will be at the residence at other times.
