Raymond B. Bessette
RAYMOND B. BESSETTE SR., 88, of Oaklawn Avenue, a retired industrialforeman, died Wednesday at Haven Health Center, Greenville.He was the husband of Louise M. (Clough) Bessette. They had been married for63 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Alphonse and Evelina(Bessette) Bessette, he had lived in Cranston for many years, and inHollywood, Fla., before he returned to Cranston five years ago.Mr. Bessette had been a foreman at BIF Industries for 43 years beforeretiring in 1979, and had been a member of the BIF Golf League.He was a 1935 graduate of Central High School, Providence, a 3rd-degreemember of Cranston Council 1738, Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime memberof Hollywood Council 4851.Mr. Bessette was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins, andthe Montreal Canadiens, and he enjoyed bowling.Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Barbara Sample of Warwick; two sons,Raymond Bessette Jr. of Johnston and Donald Bessette of Greenville; and 8grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the lateGertrude and Edgar Bessette, and Genevieve Murphy.The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. from Butterfield Chapel, 500Pontiac Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Robert BellarmineChurch, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery,Cranston.
