He was born February 11, 1951 in Port Huron and has lived here all his life. David was a graduate of Port Huron Catholic High School. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons, Michael D. (Josephine) Bassett of Fort Gratiot and Jeffrey A. Bassett (Stephanie Wurmlinger) of Port Huron; grandchildren, Ashley Bassett, Matthew Bassett, Avery Morgan, Maria Handley and Sean Handley; his mother, Audrey Bassett of Port Huron; brother, Ty Bassett of Exton, PA; sisters, Christine (Bryan) Kalbfliesch of Brown City and Kimberley Dyrval of Port Huron; aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Elmer "Al" Bassett; and his sister, Dee Ann Bassett. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
