Harold C. Bassett
EAST CHINA TWP. - Harold C. Bassett, 96, of East China Township, died Sunday, May 12, 2002. He was born Oct. 8, 1905, in Marine City to David and Louise Bassett. On June 18, 1942, Harold married Helen Sadler in Marine City. He served his country overseas in World War II with the U.S. Army. Harold retired from Reef Baker Manufacturer in 1974. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen, children, Joe (Margaret) Bassett, Lou Ann (Richard) DeBuque and Al (Sandra) Bassett, sister, Esther Gilbert, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Bassett, and sisters, Blanche Wood, Pearl Kammer and Grace Jiske. Services will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Township, and 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. The Rev. James Wysocki, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Harold's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Building Fund.
