He retired from Bessie Coal Mines after 35 years of service, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, a baseball pitcher in the BABF League, a Braves fan and always willing to help a neighbor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Bass and daughter, Sherry Marie Maynard. He is survived by his sons, Phillip Bass (Teresa), David Bass, grandchildren, Brad Bass, Anna Kate Bass, great-granddaughter, Sydney Bell, sister, Carolyn Powell, brother, Larry Bass and many other family members and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, February 17, at 12 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
