Luella M. Bassett, 80, of Hicksville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, in her home. She is survived by her husband, Lee. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. today.

Luella Bassett
HICKSVILLE - Luella Marie Bassett, 80, Hicksville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, in her home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Defiance County, the daughter of Edwin and Clara (Schlater) Moore. In 1981, she married Lee Bassett, who survives. She was a 1944 graduate of Defiance High School and worked at United Technolody, Fort Wayne, for 42 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hicksville, Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556 Auxiliary, Antwerp VFW Post 2053 Ausiliary and Lifeline.
Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle Ferguson, Hicksville; and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were six brothers, Carl, Roger, Donald, Elmer, Roy and Darrell.
Services will be at 10:30 Friday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville, with Father Thomas Oedy officiating. Burial will be at Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. by Deacon Robert Nighswander.
Preferred memorials are to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Hospice/Visiting Nurses of Defiance County.
