Bass Jr., 40 a native of Southampton County, died Monday of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Mr. Bass managed the Greige Mill of the Boykins Arrow Fabrics Co. He was serving his second term as a Boykins town councilman. He was a pianist and a singer in the New Life Band, a gospel group. He had served in the Air Force. Mr. Bass was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church and the Women?s Christian Temperance Union. Survivors include his faster father, Edward T. Drummond of Boykins; five sisters, Sadie B. Raiford and Eula B. Bradshaw, both of Franklin, Doris B. Hennamam of Providence Forge, Imogene B. Perry of Courtland and Mary Catherine De Dol of Newport News; and a brother, Edward Lloyd Bass of Courtland. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Boykins United Methodist Church by the Revs. Lee Bowers and J. Blaine Blubaugh. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will be at McDowell Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be sent to the church.
