Irene May Bassett
HICKSVILLE - Irene May Bassett, 87, died Saturday May 16, 2015 at Hickory Creek at Hicksville.
Irene was born May 3, 1928 the daughter of the late John and Paulina (Leader) Payne in Defiance County, Ohio.
On May 7, 1960, Irene was united in marriage to Kenneth Bassett. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1990.
She was employed at Commercial Intertec (Parker Hanifin), Hicksville, for 17 years until her retirement.
Irene is survived by her four children, Kay (Gene) Laney of Hicksville, Kim (Gene) Gunnells of Payne, Joe (Sharon) Bassett of Van Wert and Kenny (Tammie) Bassett of Hicksville, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She has one surviving sister Donna Rose of Findlay, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two daughters Mary Rose and Annie, a granddaughter Angie, an infant sister and brother, Kathryn and Virgil, sisters Doris Boise, Virginia Harden, Mildred Rose, Martha Jordan, Geneva Rose Newell and two brother Gerald and Kenneth Payne. Also her four legged furry friend Daisy Mae.
Funeral will be at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, today at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Six Corners Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Defiance County Humane Society, the Shiners' Hospital or the Crippled Children and Adult Society.
