Clara Joyce Smith Bass, age 85, of Lumberton, NC, entered her eternal rest on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at her home.
She was born on November 25, 1939 to Atlas Wade Smith and Maggie Prevatte Smith of Lumberton, NC. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald ?Croker? Bass; her step-son-in-law, Michael Gene Britt, and brother-in-law, Robert Fields.
Left to cherish her memory are her step-daughter, Melissa ?Missy? Bass Britt; step-children, Michael Shane and Trey Britt; step-great-grandchildren, Brent and Gabe Britt; a brother, Wade C. Smith (Gloria) of Lumberton; her nieces, Candace Smith Galliera (Phillip) of Apex, NC and Tiffany Smith of Hope Mills, NC; a great-nephew, Christian Galliera (Kristen) of Raleigh, NC; a great-niece, Keely Galliera of Apex, NC; sisters-in-laws, Jennifer Fields of Lumberton, NC and Delores ?Net? Whitt (Roger) of Selma, NC; a ?special? cousin, Pricilla Mizzell (Larry); as well as many other relatives and friends.
Joyce loved camping with friends and family. She was a member of Lumberton First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Joyce received much love and care from her caregivers, Ms. Andrea Lindsay, Ms. Margaret Thompson, and Miss Krista Morgan. Also, she had a wonderful team with Amedisys Hospice Care.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Lumberton First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 812 E. Fifth Street, Lumberton, NC.
