Walter Bassett
The following is clipped from the Star of Indianapolis, Ind., of July 11th, and will be of interest to the many friends of Walter Bassett and his bereaved parents:
The funeral of Walter N. Bassett, 12 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Bassett, who died Tuesday at his home in Liberal, Kansas, will be held at 4 o?clock this afternoon at the residence of his uncle, Normal L. Bassett, 3535 Kenwood avenue, with burial in Crown Hill.
Three weeks ago the boy came to Indianapolis with his parents to attend the funeral of his grandfather, Timothy S. Bassett, 1404 Lexington avenue. He returned to Liberal and on Friday last fell ill of typhoid fever. Death came four days later. Mrs. T.S. Bassett, the grandmother, was called to Liberal, but arrived there after the boy died.
J.H. Bassett, the father, is a machinist in the Rock Island Railroad shops at Liberal. The boy was very popular among the shopmen. After his death the father?s associates delegated O.B Wimmer, one of their number, to accompany the funeral party as far as Chicago. Wimmer and the boy were almost inseparable companions. Norman L. Bassett, the uncle, is general ticket agent at the Indianapolis Union Station.
