Thomas Omar Bass 81 of Richmond passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2023, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was born January 30, 1942, in Richmond to Dale and Irene McKee Bass and lived in this area all of his life.
He was a member and Deacon at Faith Baptist Church; he was also a former member of Gideon?s International.
Thomas was a Navy veteran serving two tours in Vietnam; he retired as a Sergeant First Class from the Army Reserves where he worked as a Bradley Tank instructor during Desert Storm.
He always kept busy working at Haughton Elevator, Western & Southern Life where he worked as an insurance salesman; he worked for the Richmond Police Department, he owned his own private investigation company, he was the head of security at Richmond Square Mall, worked security at Kroger; Thomas also was a manager at Dollar General, and his retirement job was working as a janitor for Richmond Community Schools.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 62 years Jo Ann Bass, two daughters Deborah Blankenship of Richmond, and Robin (Steve) Wiemar of Irondale, Alabama, five grandchildren Joey (Stacy) Evans, Thomas (Maggie) Blankenship, Jackie Hamilton, Maria Wiemar, Lisa Wiemar, seven great-grandchildren Katelyn, Anthony, Keith, Evan, Ellie, Gunnar, Quen, several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2023, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Wagers officiating; burial will be in the Earlham Field of Honor with military rites.
