- Marian "Merlon" Allen Bassett, son of Allen Leroy and Olivia (Davis) Bassett, was born 11 Aug 1926 in Portland, Maine. He died Thursday, 27 Dec 2002 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He married Beatrice C. Teran about 1948 in Panama.
He and his brother William were foster children raised by John Collin's family.

Beatrice Cumanda Bassett
HOLYOKE - Beatrice Cumanda (Villasis Teran) Bassett, 83, of Holyoke passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February, 3, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on March 3, 1922 in Quito, Equador. Beatrice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Merlon Bassett Sr. whom she met in Panama right after WWII and they settled in Holyoke in 1950. She became a naturalized citizen in 1956 and adapted to the language and culture of her husband. In her golden years, she enjoyed several coast to coast trips with her husband to the national parks by RV travel plus winters in Florida. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her children and grandchildren, knitting prayer shawls and Afghans for family and friends, and walking throughout Holyoke to do her errands. She was a devote Catholic and a regular communicant at Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke until it recently closed. She was an inspiration to all who met her and her life was blessed with the gifts that matter. Beatrice is survived by her six children, Anna Eddy and her spouse, Roger of Newington Ct., Merlon and his spouse, Maryann (Sattler) of West Brookfield Ma., James of Setauket N.Y., Gregory and his spouse Darlene (Sinay) of Agawam Ma., David and his spouse Gail (Mailloux) of Belchertown Ma., Joanne Horak and her spouse David of Carthage N.C. Beatrice will be sadly missed by her sisters, Fabiola Vega of Holyoke, and Sister Maria Amparo Villasis Teran of Caracas, Venezuela, along with her thirteen grandchildren, Alyssa, Kevin, Christopher, Rachael, Marielle, Michael, Jason, Chad, Ryan, Tyler, Zachary, Luke and Vanessa and several nieces and nephews. The family extends it appreciation to the caregivers who attended to Beatrice in recent months especially those at Primary Care Associates, Springfield Medical Associates, Mercy Hospital, and Monastery Heights. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services beginning at 9:30 am on Wednesday morning Feb. 8th at the Dillon Funeral Home 124 Chestnut S. Holyoke with a Liturgy of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 am in Holy Cross Church, Dwight St., Holyoke with burial in St. Jerome Cemetery. Visiting will be Wednesday the morning of the funeral only and the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773.
