Harold Floyd Bassett, Sr., age 91, of Norman, passed away Dec. 7, 2020. He was born on April 17, 1929, in Caddo, OK to the late H.F. and Marie Bassett. Harold attended The University of Oklahoma, majoring in business administration from 1947-1950. He graduated from ROTC as second lieutenant, was called to active duty in the Army artillery and served in the Korean War.
Harold moved back to Oklahoma in 1975 and created a new brokerage company with franchised exclusive sales rights for a multitude of top brands of fine wines, both domestic and imports, and spirit brands. He operated that business for the next 25 years.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lee, in May of 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Traci Soesbee and husband James; son, Harold Bassett, Jr.; five grandchildren, Cody Cooper and wife Lauren, Christina Madu and husband Mossis, Calli Cezar and husband Romus, Amber Renee Nicholson and husband Kevin, and Maggie Fern Bassett; and nine great-grandchildren.
Harold thoroughly loved life and loved all God's children. He departed this life to be with his Creator and wishes that all will celebrate with him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Merrill and Pam for their care of Harold over the years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. The service will be livestreamed via the link on Harold's tribute page at: www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com.
