Virgil D. Bassett, 76, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Hickory Creek at Hicksville.
Born on February 29, 1940 in Hicksville, Virgil was the son of the late Elmer and Violet (Carver) Bassett.
On October 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Janice Morrison and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2010.
Virgil was employed at Breed- Steering Wheel Division, Grabill, Indiana for 34 years.
He was a member of the Community Christian Center in Hicksville.
Virgil is survived by sons, Randy (Dawn) Bassett, Mark (Jennifer) Bassett; daughter, Jan (Jeff) Binder; (11) grandchildren; (14) great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Swygart, Doris Ridgeway, Alice Karnes; brothers, Rex and Lee Bassett.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Infant Glenn, Ralph, Gerald, Robert, Kenneth, Basil, Junior and a sister, Lois Humbarger.
Funeral services for Virgil will be Wednesday at 10:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Jay Scott officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Burial will be in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville.
