Obituary, Mr. J. Bassett
The death occurred in hospital yesterday afternoon of Mr. John Bassett, at the age of 84 years. The late Mr. Bassett was born at Gulgong, New South Wales, and came to Queensland when about 12 years of age. He worked mostly around Julia Creek and Winton, fencing, timber cutting, and general laboring. He had been living at Barcaldine for the past five or six years. His wife and four sons and three daughters survive him.

Obituary
John Bassett
There passed away at the Barcaldine Hospital last Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8th, John Bassett, at the age of 84 years. The deceased, who was born at Gulgong, N.S.W., came to Queensland when he was about twelve years of age, and formerly resided chiefly in the Julia Creek and Winton districts, where he followed various laboring vocations, fencing, timber-cutting, &c. For the past five or six years he had resided in Barcaldine. There were twelve children in his family, but of these only four sons and three daughters are living. Mrs. Reid (daughter) and Mr. Frank Bassett (son) reside in Barcaldine, as well as Mrs. Bassett. The funeral took place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Rev. O. J. Brandon conducting the last sad rites.
