Bass went into the ring to defned his title with the knowledge that his sister was dying from spinal meningitis. A ssoon as the lost the crown and a doctor had fixed up the wounds inflicted by the Cuban fight, Bass went to the hospital and remained there much of the time. She died yesterday afternoon.
