Hubert E. Bass

Hubert E. Bass, age 85 of Flat Rock, died June 9, 2010 in his home.
Friends may call from 1 pm until 9 pm Monday at the Ford Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 23620 N. Huron River Dr., Rockwood, where funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday. Rev. Robert Casement of Evangel Baptist Church in Taylor will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the Downriver Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Flat Rock.
Born June 5, 1925, in Dante, Virginia, Hubert was the son of Jody & Ida (Oaks) Bass. He married Bessie Terry July 5, 1946.
A World War II veteran of the Navy, Hubert was a Track Engineer for DT&I Railroad for 32 years until his retirement in 1982.
Hubert loved bowling and playing golf.
In addition to his wife Bessie of 63 years, Hubert is survived by his children: Wayne Bass of Rockwood, Terry (Stephaine) Bass of Carleton, Doug (Sandy) Bass of Liberty, Missouri, Ralph (Tammy) Bass of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Randy (LeeAnn) Bass of Monroe, Derk (Tina) Bass of South Rockwood, Bryan Bass of Flat Rock, Rodney Bass of Flat Rock, Craig (Gina) Bass of Flat Rock, Jodi (Dennis) Ford of Trenton, Michele (Tim) Bondroff of Taylor and Jami (Mike) Sanfilippo of Trenton. He is also survived by a brother Jody Bass of Dayton, Ohio; 27 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Sadly Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Charlie and Joe as well as two sisters: Ruth and Myrtle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Hubert's name to the charity of donor's choice.
