Edgar M. Bassett
Edgar M. Bassett died yesterday afternoon at his home on Elizabeth street after a long illness. Last summer he underwent a surgical operation but it failed to effect a cure and he had been in poor health ever since. Mr. Bassett was born and spent his life here. He was a steamboat cook and until late years sailed on vessels plying between Ogdensburg and lake ports. Since he quit steamboating he was employed as a clerk in various groceries. He was an industrious, honorable man and was highly respected by every one who knew him. He was a member of Acacian Lodge, No. 705 F.& A.M. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Misses Ida May and May B., of this city, and two sons, Harry and Edgar M., Jr. of Rochester. Mr. Bassett was 56 years old.
