Mr. Thomas Alfred Bassett
The death of Mr. Thomas Alfred Bassett, formerly of Hawthorne Parade, Haberfield, occurred at Liverpool on the 26th ult., after an illness of five weeks’ duration. Born in Bathurst 57 years ago, the deceased came to Sydney in early manhood with his young wife, formerly Miss Amy Cox, whom he had married at Wellington, New South Wales. He entered the service of the Harbour Trust, in which he was employed for over 20 years. During his short illness he was consoled by the ministrations of Reverend Fathers M. O’Dea, P.P. (Camden), and McManus (Liverpool), and he died fortified with all the rites of the Church. The funeral took place on the 28th ult., from All Saints’ Church, Liverpool, to the Catholic cemetery, Liverpool; Reverend Father McManus officiating in the church and at the graveside. Besides his widow, three sons and one daughter - Alfred, Sydney, William and Elsie - are left to mourn their loss. Other surviving relatives are William Grady and James Bassett (Leichhardt), brothers; Mrs. G. Walsh (Woolwich), and E. Smith (Leichhardt), sisters. - Rest In Peace.
