Constance Connie Bassett (Picture included)

She was born in Los Angeles, CA, on November 9, 1928 to parents Louise Bennett and George Parkman Cronk. She graduated from Los Angeles High School in June 1946. She married John Paul Lamer on May 7, 1949 and was widowed on July 21, 1968. Connie married Denison Sisco Bassett on April 20, 1970.
Connie was involved with many philanthropic and charitable organizations throughout her lifetime. While in high school, she was a member of the League for Crippled Children. Connie was president of the Beach Pixies Auxiliary 1958 - 1959. Connie was a lifelong member and past president (CY 1964) of the Sandpiper's Organization in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, CA. Connie volunteered at American Martyrs Catholic Church during her children's elementary school years. Connie and her husband Den moved to St. Louis, MO, in April 1970. After they retired full time to Siesta Key, FL, in 1986, Connie volunteered in many activities at Siesta Key Presbyterian Chapel. She was actively involved with many ministries including Resurrection House, The Southeastern Guide Dogs, Paw's for Patriots, Blue Star Mothers, Backpack for Kids and The All Faiths Food Bank. Connie was a wife and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, spending time on the beach and playing tennis. Connie and her husband Den enjoyed Dixieland Jazz music and traveling.
Connie is survived by her husband, Denison Sisco Bassett; her sister Sarah Black of Orcut, CA; four children, Gary Paul Lamer of Sarasota, FL, Sally Linda Lamer of O'Fallon, MO, William Earl Bassett, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Retired of Leavenworth, KS, Elizabeth Ann Bassett-Leonard of Buckeye, AZ. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service with internment immediately following at 11 am on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Siesta Key Presbyterian Chapel, 4615 Gleason Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34242.
