  Notes	The Register, Adelaide, South Australia, 17 August 1915 Mr. Henry Bassett Mr. Henry Bassett, who died at Gibson street, Bowden, on Monday of last week at the age of 75 years, was a son of the late Mr. John Bassett, who with his wife arrived in South Australia by the Java, and lived at Emigration square, West terrace, where their son, Henry Bassett, was born. The parents removed to Bowden, and lived there for many years. When a young man the deceased was a carter engaged on the road between Adelaide and the Biirra mines. Subsequently he was a butcher, and worked in this capacity for his father. He entered the railway service, and was employed by Mr. Isaac Puddy, superintendent of the Port Adelaide line, and the North line to Kapunda. He was transferred to the locomotive works (then in Adelaide), and worked under Mr. John Henry Clarke (locomotive superintendent) and afterwards under M. Thow (mechanical engineer). After leaving the railway service Mr. Bassett was in charge of the engine at Mr. G.R. Mark?s Adelaide Pottery works, Brompton Park. In his young days Mr. Bassett was a fine athlete. For many years priot to his death he was an invalid, and was confined to his home. He was twice married, and has left a wife, three sons ? Messrs. William, Albert E., and Ernest ? and four daughters ? Mesdames John Gordon (New Zealand), H. Smallwood (Glenlg), C. Buckton (Brompton), and L. Manksey (Bowden). Thirty-two grandchildren also survived.
