Joe Bass
Joe Bass, a sales representative of Star Rubber Company, of 127 S. Ravenel Sr., died Saturday morning in the Columbia Hospital.
Mr. Bass was born in Marshville, N. C., the son of Jesse T. Bass and the late Mrs. Bass.
He had been a resident of Columbia for 17 years. He was a member of Eau Claire Masonic Lodge and Omar Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Sharpe Bas; two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Smith of Charlotte, N. C. and Mrs. W. W. Piland of Portsmouth, Va.; his father, and one brother, Dowd Bass of Marshville.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 this afternoon from Dunbar Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Voight O. Taylor. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be T. H. McCrory, F. N. Bush, T. R. Meetze, A. H. McDermid, H. P. Swygert, and J. P. Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Harmon, Joe B. Berry, Nathan Berry, Herschel, John Bagnal, Dr. C. G. Spivey, Alvis L. Young, W L. Strock, Wayne Marsh, and Phil Gaddy.
