Robert Bass Sr. Mt. Vernon
Robert Bass Sr., 80, a resident of Mt. Vernon Care Facility, died Friday morning at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a member of the Corinthian Baptist Church.
Mr. Bass was born in Natchez, Mo., on Dec. 9, 1890, the son of Joseph and Jeanette (Dunbar) Bass. He moved to Mt. Vernon in 1863.
He married the former Evelyn Armstrong in 1911. She preceded him in death in 1966.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Corinthian Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Lash officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Bass is survived by two sons, Samuel and Robert Jr., both of Mt Vernon; two daughters, Ella Davis and Jean Caldwell, both of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Corine Atkins of Clarksdale, Miss; three brothers, Tommy and Harvy Bass of Vicksburg, Miss., and Joseph Bass Jr. of Detroit, Michi.; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three sons.
