Michael W. Bassett
Michael W. Bassett, 25, a 16-year resident of Olympia, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, in Wendell, Idaho. He was born April 29, 1975, to Bob and Diane (Boehm) Bassett in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Bassett served in the Army from 1944 to 1995. He was a commercial truck driver, tugboat deckhand, factory worker, and general maintenance worker for a Tacoma trucking and shipping company. Mr. Bassett enjoyed church and sporting activities. He is survived by four brothers, Nathan, Joshua, Benjamin, and Bobby Bassett, all of Lacey, a sister, Rachel Bassett of Lacey, parents Bob and Diane Bassett of Lacey and grandparents, Charles and Era Watson of Henderson, Ky., and Robert Bassett Sr. of Lacey. A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2508 State Ave. N.E., Olympia. Jerry Faulkner will officiate. An interment service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, march 3, at Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, Ky. Arrangements are by Tapp Funeral Home, Henderson, Ky.
