Ronald H. Bass

Ronald H. Bass, age 89, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on August 26, 2024. He was born February 2, 1935, the son of Henry and Ina Bass, in Richmond, Indiana.
Ronald was a resident of Richmond, Indiana, and a graduate from Richmond High School. Following graduation, he served our country with the United States Air Force and was an honorably discharged Veteran serving from 1952-1957. His employment over the years included being a clerk at Phillip?s Drug Store from 1957-1960, and a Bank Manager at 2nd National Bank from 1980-1986. He was also employed as a fireman from 1960-1980; and extremely proud of being a part of an all-black Company at Firehouse Number 2. He was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his children, daughter: Deirdre Lynn Solomon (husband, Larry) of Evans, GA, and son: Ron Bass, Jr; five grandchildren: Jules Knight of Fountain Inn, SC, Kelly Knight of Columbia, SC, Brittany Knight of Charlotte, NC, Keona Solomon and Alexis Solomon, both of Blackville, SC; three great grandchildren: Trinity Knight of Columbia, SC, Mya Sanders of Columbia, SC and Chaundra Vance; three stepchildren: Chrisandra Bronston (husband, Dennis) of Richmond, Nicolet Edwards (husband, Louis) of Cleveland, OH and Edward Douglas of Richmond, IN; step grandchildren: John Bronston II, Derrick Douglas, Damon Douglas, Demetria Scott; four cousins: Yvonne, Jackie, Jennifer and Dee; and a host of other family and friends including special friends Tom, Rosie and Scott.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a spouse: Evelyn Bass; one aunt: Elizabeth Kelley (husband, Harold); three cousins: Marilyn Dowdell (husband, Joe), Billy Kelley and Natalie Hooks; two step granddaughters: Stacia Bronston and Tracie Edwards.
The family wishes to give special thanks to everyone involved in his life in Richmond, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 200 South 6th Street, Richmond, Indiana, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Michael Jefferson officiating.
